It's quite amazing how life
conspires with time to set the stage for our future while we're still dizzying ourselves dancing in circles and
learning to tie our shoe laces.
Humair and I first crossed paths over twenty years ago when the careers of both our fathers led our families
to Kuwait in the early eighties, although we only have vague recollections of our encounters from back then. 15 years later,
we met for the first time since then to see if we'd like to get married to each other!. Our parents had already reconnected
in Pakistan just a couple of years before, although still in separate cities: his family in Karachi and mine in Lahore.
Then some time in late January that year, our folks started talking about us, and five days after our first meeting,
Humair and I happily wed on February 16th, 1999 in Lahore. By the 18th, we were in Islamabad getting
my visa, by the 20th we were in Karachi for the Walima, and by the 27th we were on a plane to the US!

These
are a few of our favorite things....
One of the things we both really enjoy is site-seeing. Through Humair's busy work schedule, we found the time to go
to LA in 2002 right before the Oscars and visit Mickey in Disney Land; to Beautiful Virginia, West Virginia
and Washington DC, to Singapore on our way back from Pakistan and of course we know San Antonio like the back of
our hands! And I don't think there is a Six Flags in Texas that we haven't been to! We like eating out at nice places
and discovering different restaurants and trying out new food. If nothing else, you'll find us at the Mall or at a Barnes
and Noble reading magazines and occasionally sipping on a starbucks Cafe Mocha. But of course, there's nothing like a nice
"lazy Sunday" in our cozy home with some nice hot tea!

Humair was born on July 11, 1972
to Ziauddin and Suraiya Shaikh in Karachi; has two bothers; childhood years were spent in the US (Orange County, CA) Kuwait
and Pakistan; Metric form St. Patricks, F.Sc from DJ College, Karachi; B.Sc Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech (1995);
M.Sc Chemical Engineering from West Virginia University (1998); joined Schlumberger on March 23rd, 1998 in Sonora, TX.
Fariha was born on March 21, 1978
to Ayaz and Samia Shariff; has two brothers, two sisters; spent her childhood in Kuwait, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi; O' Levels from Beacon
House (Liberty) ('93); A' Levels from Kynesian Institute of Management Sciences ('95); BBA and MBA from Punjab College
of Business Administration ('98)
We began our married life in Sonora,
where Humair began his career with Schlumberger. Since then, we've moved around Texas, living in Perryton for a while before
we were blessed with the chance to live in Houston and enjoy the facility of having a mall and a Walmart in the same
town!
